As part of the RootRural / Raíces y Horizontes project, we held our first co-creation laboratory, focused on tourism, culture and leisure as challenges and opportunities for the territory.
A total of 28 people took part in the session, creating five working groups, each focused on different real challenges faced by rural areas. Based on these challenges, participants proposed a wide range of inspiring solutions: art festivals, the creation of joint brands, cooperatives between tourism companies, internationalisation strategies and even the possibility of working towards European heritage protection and recognition, such as a UNESCO World Heritage candidacy.
The aim of the laboratory was not just to generate ideas, but to move towards proposals with real potential. For this reason, at the end of the session, all participants voted for the most viable project to receive support and mentoring over the coming months.
And there was a surprise: two proposals received the same number of votes, so both will finally be mentored.
✨ Tourist all year round
✨ Forgotten land, found art
Two ideas born from collective work, citizen participation and a shared vision between local people and international participants.
Over the coming months, we will share more about their progress and how these proposals may move towards possible implementation.
