On 14 September, the Roots and Horizons project concluded its Capacity-Building Workshop series in Portugal with the final two workshops, held at the Rural Impact Centre in Miranda do Douro, with participants also joining online via Zoom.
Following the first two sessions, which focused on defining and developing ideas and projects, Workshops #3 and #4 addressed two increasingly important topics for entrepreneurs: financial management and the use of digital and artificial intelligence tools.
Workshop #3 | How can I make this possible?
The third workshop focused on management control and financial management, aiming to make concepts that may initially seem complex simpler and more applicable to the reality of each project.
Throughout the session, participants had the opportunity to consolidate their knowledge and reflect on the importance of understanding costs, revenues and available resources in order to make more informed and sustainable decisions.
There was also an opportunity to explore an AI-powered tool developed by a startup that can support entrepreneurs in organising and managing different processes, demonstrating how technology can be used in practical ways that respond to the real needs of a business.
Workshop #4 | How can I make this easier?
The fourth workshop focused on artificial intelligence for entrepreneurs, with particular attention to the possibilities these technologies can offer in day-to-day work.
We discussed different types of AI tools and ways of using them to support tasks, organise information, develop ideas, improve communication and make certain processes simpler and more efficient.
More than simply introducing tools, the session aimed to encourage the conscious and practical use of technology, demonstrating how artificial intelligence can support people in their work without replacing the knowledge, experience and decision-making skills of those behind each project.
With the completion of these four workshops, RootRural / Roots and Horizons reinforces its commitment to supporting people developing projects and businesses in rural areas through practical, accessible training that can be directly applied to participants’ day-to-day activities.
