RootRural Launches with Strong Participation at Women Entrepreneurs’ Meeting

O futuro das zonas rurais escreve-se no feminino e com uma visão renovada de esperança. No passado dia 12 de março, a The future of rural areas is being written by women, with a renewed vision of hope. On 12 March, the Tierras del Cid Association took a decisive step in promoting the RootRural project during a meeting that brought together businesswomen and women entrepreneurs from the region.

A Collective Assessment of the Rural Mindset

More than a simple presentation, the event served as a barometer of local resilience. Over 50 women actively participated in the session, completing the “mindset questionnaire” — a crucial tool in the project’s social assessment, designed to understand how local residents perceive opportunities in rural areas.

This assessment is the foundation of RootRural’s Theory of Change. We believe that the main obstacle to the development of our villages is not only material, but also cultural and cognitive. By gathering these perceptions, the project can design training sessions and workshops that directly address the needs of those already developing entrepreneurial initiatives on the ground.

RootRural and Women’s Empowerment

Rural women are one of the priority groups of this Erasmus+ project. We recognise that they face specific barriers to accessing training and decision-making spaces. Through RootRural, we aim to:

  • Strengthen skills in leadership, strategy and digitalisation.
  • Create transnational support networks between Spain and Portugal.
  • Transform the narrative of “scarcity” into a “culture of opportunity”.

The energy shown at this meeting in Soria confirms that there is untapped potential ready to be activated. As project coordinator, the Tierras del Cid Association, in partnership with Rural Move in Portugal, will continue to promote these co-creation dynamics throughout the Douro River basin.

Are you ready to cultivate new opportunities in your region?

Stay tuned! Very soon, we will make the online questionnaire available so that you can share your perspective on the future of our villages..
